This is an excerpt from the Captain of the Havila Troll. The Havila Troll is a Search and Rescue vessel which operates in the North Sea out from Norway. NVTi outfitted this ship with one of our custom camera systems.
“We have had an exercise with the SAR helicopter out here on the oilfield in the North Sea, with the purpose to pick up people in the sea. We could follow the whole operation all the time with the thermal camera, and we had no problems detecting the people that where lifted up to the helicopter at approximately 1000 meters from us.
The color camera is perfect, and is used every day as monoculars.”
